Good morning, Newport! I’m Ryan Belmore, publisher of What’sUpNewp. Here’s what you need to know for Monday, December 1, 2025.

The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce will kick off Holidays by the Sea today with a press conference at Big Weather Gear, 154 Thames St., at 10 a.m. U.S. Rep. Gabe Amo, Newport Mayor Charles Holder, and other local officials and business leaders will encourage residents to shop and dine locally throughout the holiday season. A business stroll along Thames Street will follow the event.

The campaign aims to drive shoppers to local businesses during the busy holiday season. Businesses can participate in the chamber's holiday décor contest and a free digital advertising program called the Holiday Member Exchange. More information is available at newportchamber.com.
