There was a structure fire in the area of Broadway on Tuesday, according to Newport Police. Newport Police posted the following on Facebook at 4:23 pm; “There is a structure fire on Broadway. Broadway is currently closed in the area of Fowler and Thurston, please seek an alternate route”. At 5:47 pm, they updated the post to say, “Broadway is now open”. A snow squall hit Newport on Tuesday. X user @Ando1Noisy took a video of the snow, which he described as “insane.” The National Weather Service (NWS) announced the snow squalls on Tuesday morning and warned that “brief reductions in visibility can be expected in these localized showers/bands.” A second round of snow squalls was expected to hit the same areas on Wednesday, according to another announcement from the NWS.
