Governor Dan McKee and Secretary of Housing Deborah Goddard on Wednesday released a draft of Housing 2030, the state’s first housing plan since 2006, which sets a goal of permitting 15,000 new homes by 2030. This comprehensive and actionable document aims to address Rhode Island’s housing challenges by setting ambitious goals for the production and preservation of housing at every level.

The City of Newport is gearing up for its Spring Recycling Day on Saturday at Easton’s Beach. The event will take place from 8 am to noon. More details from the City;
This annual recycling event is intended for “harder to recycle” items and is free and open to all Newport residents! Proof of residency is required.
This year’s event will include the following opportunities: �
� Electronic Waste Recycling: Indie Cycle, LLC will be accepting electronic items including computers, laptops, monitors, televisions, and more! For more information visit www.indiecycle.com
� Paper Shredding: Bring up to 3 banker boxes of sensitive paper documents to be shredded.
� Clothing and Textiles: Big Brothers Big Sisters of RI will be available to accept donations of clothing and other textiles.
�Scrap Metal: Metal hangers, pots, pans, metal chains, screws, nails, and any other item that is primarily made out of metal.
� Rigid Plastics: Acceptable items are 100% rigid plastic with non-plastic parts removed, empty and free of all materials and liquids.
� Cardboard: Flattened cardboard only. No paper or packing materials accepted.
� Bulky Waste Items for Disposal: TWO Bulky items (ex: one couch, one table) per household
